USA’s Caroline Fouts and Argentina’s Jeremias Azaña have secured their places in the 2025/26 PSA World Championships after they won the Pan American World Championships Qualification event in St Louis, Missouri, beating Colombia’s Lucia Bautista and USA’s Nicholas Spizzirri in their respective finals.
Fouts was the first to secure her ticket to Cairo as she fought off a valiant comeback by Bautista to win the final in five games. Fouts started in great style and took a 2-0 lead in seemingly no time at all. Bautista wasn’t going to go down without a fight and impressively won the next two games 11-6, 11-5 to force an exciting fifth and final game. Fouts regrouped and dominated the deciding game, winning 11-4 to win the event.
The men’s final saw an extremely competitive tie go the way of Azana after 75 minutes of tough and gruelling squash. The pair shared the first two games with the American Spizzirri claiming a tight second 13-11. Azana pulled ahead again on the scoreboard to lead 2-1 but a dramatic fourth game was on the way. Spizzirri earned the first game ball but failed to convert as Azana took it to a tiebreak, the American then squandered another three game balls on his way to losing the game 17-15, handing Azana a spot in the biggest event on the calendar.
