Khan & Tse Win Win Epic Finals at the Asia World Championships Qualifying Event

Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Khan and Hong Kong, China’s Toby Tse have booked thier places in the draws of the 25/26 PSA World Championships after winning epic finals at the Asia qualifiyng event at the Hong Kong Football Club.

The all-Hong Kong women’s final was up first as both Tse and Fung looked to claim a place in thier first World Championships. Depsite Fung starting the better of the two and claiming the opening game, Tse battled back and asserted her dominance to turn the tide and win the next two games to lead 2-1. Fung held string in game four and managed to level proceedings by winning 11-9. No.2 seed Tse managed the fifth game well and ran out to an 11-7 victory in 50 minutes.

The men’s final was just as exciting with the match once again won in a deciding game. The more experienced Khan, looked to be cruising through to the World Championships after taking the opening two games with such style. Maybe Khan was guilty of already thinking the match was won as he returned to court for the third game. Chuah found a way to move Khan away from the middle, which brought him much joy.

Chuah took games three and four to level the tie and as the game reached a tiebreak in the fifth, Khan was awarded a stroke at 11-10 to seal the victory and book his ticket to Cairo.
