Watts & White Claim PSA World Championships Oceania Qualifying Spots

New Zealand’s Kaitlyn Watts and Australia’s Joseph White have claimed their spots in the main draw of the 2025/26 PSA World Championships in Cairo after coming through their respective finals at the Oceania qualifying event in Kooyong.

World No.78 Watts will make her main draw debut at the PSA World Championships in May after she defeated Kiwi compatriot Ella Jane Lash in four games in the women’s final.

Despite falling a game down to the No.4 seed, Watts remained composed to firstly draw herself level and only grow in the ascendancy as the match progressed. After levelling the match with an 11-7 second-game win, Watts dropped just seven points throughout the remainder of the match to clinch victory after 36 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, men’s top seed White secured the second main draw appearance of his career at the PSA World Championships after powering past No.5 seed Lwamba Chileshe in three games.

Since edging past the unseeded Connor Hayes in a nervy five-game clash in the quarter-finals, White barely put a foot wrong in the closing rounds of the event. In the final, the Australian World No.85 got ahead on the scoreboard early and never looked back.

Leads of 6-2, 5-2 and 6-1 in all three games set White perfectly on his way to a commanding 33-minute victory at the Kooyong Squash Club, wrapping up the win by an 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 scoreline.
