The CIB PSA World Championships continued with eight Round Three matches from the top half of the draws, with matches at the Museum of Egyptian Civilisation and at the Palm Hills Club.
Fayrouz ousts fourth seed Nele in Cairo upset
The Day’s big upset saw 18-year-old Fayrouz Aboelkheir oust fourth seed Nele Gilis in four games, to reach the quarter-finals in only her second World Champs appearance. The reigning British Junior Open champion will face USA’s Olivia Weaver for a place in the last four, while defending champion Nour El Sherbini, who beat World Junior Champion Amina Orfi in straight games, will meet Tinne Gilis.
No upsets on the men’s side as defending champion Al Farag and Tarek Momen set up a repeat of their 2019 world final in Chicago, while former champion Karim Abdel Gawad also progressed to the quarters where he’ll face third seed Diego Elias.
