The third round of the 24/25 PSA World Championships presented by the Walter Family got underway today, with eight matches on the showpiece glass court at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness in Chicago. The third round is split across two days of action, with players from the top half of both the men’s and women’s draws looking to advance to the quarter-finals of the flagship PSA Squash Tour event today.
The day began with the biggest seeding upset to date as Nada Abbas came from two games down to oust fifth seed Amina Orfi, and a further women’s upset followed as Japan’s Satomi Watanabe denied sixth seed Tinne Gilis in four games. In a clash between the men’s 8th and 9th seeds it was Youssef Soliman who prevailed over Marwan ElShorbagy, while defending champions Nouran Gohar and Diego Elias both progressed to the quarter-finals.
