Day SIX : Quarter-Finals begin with wins for El Hammamy, Orfi and Elias

The CIB Palm Hills PSA World Championships continued tonight in Giza, Egypt with three quarter-final matches from the top half of the draws.

Earlier in the day men’s top seed and defending champion Mostafa Asal went through to the semis as hi opponent Joel Makin withdrew with a knee injury, leaving just three matches to play tonight.

The first match of the evening was a marathon as women’s top seed Hania El Hammamy fought back from 0-1 and 1-2 down to deny Siva Subramanian in 93 minutes.

Siva Subramaniam took the opening game against Amina Orfi, but the world junior champion and third seed hit back to take the next three to set up a mouth-watering semi against El Hammamy.

In the final match of the night Peru’s Diego Elias maintained his winning run over world junior champion Mohamad Zakaria, taking a lengthy opening game before dominating the next two.
