Gearing up for Chicago

The PSA World Championships is the most prestigious tournament in professional squash and will take place in Chicago for the first time between February 23 – March 2, 2019, inside the magnificent Union Station.

128 of the world’s best squash players will descend on Chicago during a high-intensity week of action as they battle for the honour of becoming World Champion, while the stakes are higher than ever before with a record $1 million prize split equally between the men’s and women’s events.

Egyptian duo Mohamed ElShorbagy and Raneem El Welily got their hands on the famous trophies last year and return to defend their titles, but will face stern challenges from the likes of fellow Egyptians Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini as well as stars outside of Egypt such as Gregory Gaultier, Simon Rösner, Camille Serme and Laura Massaro.

“The PSA World Championships is the undoubted highlight of the PSA Tour calendar and we’re looking forward to an exciting week of action in Chicago next February,” said Tournament Promoter Tim Garner.

“Union Station promises to be a fitting location for the sport’s most prestigious tournament and we hope that squash fans around the world can join us as the World Championships comes to Chicago to the first time.”

Union Station will stage the glass show court throughout the tournament, while matches from the early rounds will also be split between the traditional courts at MetroSquash and the University Club of Chicago.
