Singh & Chotrani Win Asian Qualifying Event

India’s Anahat Singh and Veer Chotrani have qualified for the 24/25 PSA World Championships after winning the Asian qualifying event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Rising star Singh, 17, continued her sublime recent form with a four-game victory over Hong Kong’s Toby Tse in the final – the only game which the current World No.60 dropped all week.

No.5 seed Singh, who has now won seven straight events on the PSA Tour, defeated Jemyca Aribado, Akari Midorikawa, No.5 seed Helen Tang on her way to the final, before claiming an 11-4, 9-11, 11-2, 11-8 win over Tse to punch her ticket at this year’s PSA World Championships.

Chotrani, meanwhile, defeated Malaysia’s local favourite Ameeshenraj Chandaran by an 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 scoreline to join Singh in making a debut at next month’s PSA World Championships in Chicago.

The 23-year-old second seed delivered a superb week of squash to lift the men’s title, overcoming Sai Hung Ong, No.6 seed Mohammad Syafiq Kamal, No.8 seed Chi Him Wong, and Chandaran – dropping just two games across his four wins.

Chotrani will join compatriots Ramit Tandon, Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar in the men’s draw at the PSA World Championships, while Singh will be the lone Indian representative in the women’s draw.

Chotrani will face England’s Declan James in the opening round, with Singh taking on England’s Katie Malliff.
