The CIB Palm Hills PSA World Championships concludes tonight in Giza, Egypt with two compelling all-Egyptian finals.
First up is the Women’s final with eight-time and defending champion Nour ElSherbini appearing in her 11th straight final – 12th overall – and looking for a record-breaking 9th title. She faces the reigning and four-time world junior champion Amina Orfi, who ended World #1 Hania El Hammamy’s quest for a first title in an epic semi-final.
It’s their second World Champs meeting, ElSherbini winning the last 16 clash two years ago, and Sherbini leads the H2H 3-2 having won the last meeting, this year’s Windy City Open final, in five games. Sherbini also has the chance to return to World #1 with a win, but Orfi stands to become the first player to hold Junior and Senior world titles at the same time.
The men’s final sees defending champion Mostafa Asal, the world #1 and top seed appearing in his third straight final, take on seventh seed Youssef Ibrahim, who had failed to even reach the quarter-finals in seven previous editions before storming to the final this year.
Asal leads their H2H 7-0 and hasn’t dropped a game since their first meeting three years ago.
