[10] Salma Hany (EGY) 3-2 Hollie Naughton (CAN) 11-5, 11-4, 11-13, 9-11, 11-7 (60m)
A very close call for Salma, Hollie supported by James Willstrop really asked some tough questions today….
Salma : “It’s the first round of the World Championship, so there will always be nerves, but I think I managed that pretty well in the first game and I felt pretty good on the court.
“In the third I feel I relaxed a little bit and maybe I saw the finish line a little bit too early. That was my lesson for today, but all credit to Hollie, she played some really good squash and she fought back.
“You just have to give it the last push, you play solidly and try to focus on every point. You try not to think about the 2-0 lead because it’s gone already. I got a pretty good lead in the middle of the fifth and that definitely gave me a little edge.
“Hana will have nothing to lose. I played some good squash today, so I’m going to focus on those positives and learn from my mistakes. I have two days to recover and regroup. Hana has been playing well and pushing the top players.”
