“I’m feeling good. I played well today against a good friend in Jeremias.

“I was very happy to see him get to the second round at his first World Championships. Im happy with my performance, but it’s a long tournament.

“We play together every year like the South American and Pan Am tournaments. When I was living in Florida, we used to train together a lot. I’ve known him for a lot of years and it’s always good seeing another South American playing in these tournaments.

“I think squash is getting bigger in South America. The main problem in most countries in South America is that the courts are in all private clubs. I’s hard to have access to them, so it’s difficult for people to try the sport. Hopefully it keeps growing, like this year, there are a lot of South American players in this tournament, so that’s great to see.

“It’s OK at the start of the tournament [to go from glass court to side court]. Maybe it would have been tougher if you have to change in the quarter-finals or semis, but right now it’s fine.

“It’s always great having my dad with me. He comes to most of the tournaments and we’ve been traveling the world since I was nine years old, so I’m used to it. The support is great and I love having having him with me.

“He’s very good on the mental side, but also I think he knows he knows a lot about the game and he’s been traveling with me for more than 10 years now. He knows every player.”
