R2: Nadien impresses against Nour

[2] Nour ElSherbini (EGY) 3-0 Nadien Elhammamy (EGY)  11-4, 11-8, 11-7 (32m)

Personally very impressed with the young player from Wadi Degla. Only 18, she hits the ball with no fear, intensity, and relentlessness! Nour was pushed to the front corners, had to adapt quickly to the non-stop firing from the contender’s racquet.

Although it was her first time on the glasscourt, Nadien looked very comfortable out there, only making 2 errors the whole match, and that was in the first game. How many juniors can hit that hard without losing the accuracy.

Nour never lost her calm, and was always finding solutions to the problem the young girl was causing. But I guess it was a nice warm up for whatever Amanda is going to throw at her next round… As for us, we truly enjoyed the intense and fair match…

Nour : “I’m very happy. It’s a tricky second-round match. Nadien is an up-and-coming player, with how she’s playing. She’s physically really good and very hard-hitting. She’s definitely one to watch and I’m very happy to win in three.

“Today, the conditions were much better than yesterday, hopefully it stays the same. It’s how we like to play matches.

“Me and Amanda [Sobhy] go way, way back. We’ve been playing since juniors. It’s weird to be playing in the last-16, usually we play in the much later rounds. I definitely have so much respect for Amanda, how she came back from her injury and is playing so well again. I’m looking forward to it and I’m sure it will be another battle.”
