Lovejoy & Fouts Win In Maryland To Book Spots In World Champs Draws

USA duo Spencer Lovejoy and Caroline Fouts have booked their places in next months PSA World Championships after winning the Pan American Qualifying event over in Maryland, USA.

18-year-old Fouts has been claiming some impressive wins on the PSA tour over the past year and will now get another chance to test herself against the best in the world after claiming victory yesterday. Fouts was up against Mexico’s Sarahi Lopez for the spot and after winning the first game in the final 11-8, Fouts looked unstoppable.

The home favourite stormed to victory in the next two games, not giving Lopez a chance to find a way back into the match. Fouts won 11-4, 11-5 in 35 minutes to seal her ticket to Cairo.

The men’s final was almost identical to the women’s match as another home favourite Spencer Lovejoy sailed to victory after a tough opening game against Guatemala’s Alejandro Enriquez. Lovejoy took the opener in a tiebreak 13-11 before having too many weapons for Enriquez to deal with in the second and third games, winning those 11-5, 11-4 to secure the win and a place in the sports biggest event.
