The European Championships leave their mark. I picked up a little something in my leg in the semi-final against Switzerland, so I rested to let the body recover, which means I’m coming in a bit short physically. So I was a little stressed, because I didn’t know how the body was going to react.
Mind you, I got the feeling he was hurting somewhere too; he wasn’t playing at 100%.
Playing the World Championships straight after the Europeans is tough, so I’m very happy to have got through the first round.
Tomorrow, logically, I should be playing Paul. On the glass court, against him, I always have good matches; I push him to four or five. It’s up to me to really believe in it and try to cause the upset. I hope I can drag him into a bit of a battle. The only thing is that the body needs to hold up, but I think it’ll be okay. Today, I felt really good. Tomorrow, we’ll go out there and enjoy it…
