“I’m very relieved. It’s my first time playing Sam. I’ve watched him a couple of times and I knew that he is a tough player. He caught me by surprise at the beginning and I feel that he was so relaxed, he didn’t have any pressure and he just went for it.
“I was in a big pickle and after the second I just thought that I would have to go back to the basics and I’m very happy with the fact I got the win.
“In the first two games, I was just rushing myself too much. Moving to the front too early, and he was very good at countering it. After the second, I just thought that I would construct the rallies a bit more and wait for the opportunities.
“Back at the beginning of my career, this is the type of match that I might not have won. I was able to go back to the basics and pull myself out.”
