R1: Marwan Elshorbagy 3-0 Auguste Dussourd

[9] Marwan Elshorbagy (ENG) 3-0 Auguste Dussourd (FRA)  11-2, 11-8, 11-9 (43m)

Next opponent: Fares Dessouki

So many calls, so many decisions, lots of testosterone on the court today. Auguste got warned for dissent as he didn’t exactly agree with the ref’s no let vision of the match. Stoppage, arguments. Oh well.

Marwan : Believe it or not, this is the kind of match people love watching. Yes, they do. Did you see the number of people watching?

It’s all about hugging each other now, giving each other kisses on court, and I guess this is why squash at the top is so boring at the moment.

There was absolutely nothing wrong on court today, we didn’t block, it was absolutely fine, just a bit of arguing. Sometimes you’ve got to show a bit of character, there was maybe one block from Auguste here and there but that’s all.

I enjoyed the match, I enjoy those battles. The aggression has always been a part of my game, and I don’t see anything wrong with that. It’s part of the top players’ game. Some of the top players’ game. I show it. Some know how to keep it inside. I don’t.

I gave it everything today, I love Auguste, he is a tough opponent to play because he knows how to win. And those players who know how to win are always harder to play. As a player, I have a lot of respect for him. I’m looking forward to play him again.

Next round, Dessouki. Another player that I respect, that I love watching because he is aggressive, and you will see, everyone will be here, watching our match. We are going to go hard at each other, and that’s what we want. And we will end up being fine. It’s War on court, and Peace outside. No one crosses the limit with aggression, and people love that.
